2012-13 recap: “It was an up-and-down season for us. We lost tough league duals to Bear Creek and Lakewood, but had great finishes at the league tournament,” Peronard said. Those finishes included Wilson George placing first, Jake Thayer second and Zach Lowe third. Thayer took fifth at state. Lowe and George just missed out on qualifying for state.
Wrestlers to watch: Wilson George, Sr., 182; Dylan Seeman, Sr., 195; Zach Lowe, Sr., 220
Key loss: Jake Thayer
Season opener: Dec. 6, vs. Heritage, 7 p.m.
Outlook: “We’ll be tough and physical,” said Peronard, who returns 18 wrestlers to this year’s squad, including junior Riley Thayer.

Wrestler to watch: Karl Breidenbach, Sr., 160
Key loss: Brian Mayberry
2012-13 recap: The Rebels qualified two individuals for the state championships: Breidenbach and Mayberry. Breidenbach came in fourth at 152 pounds, while Mayberry won a state championship at 215 pounds.
Season opener: Dec. 4 vs. Pomona, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Columbine graduated just two seniors with one of those being 220-pound state champion Mayberry. They have a young team, Mark Baltazar said, with two-thirds of the squad consisting of freshmen and sophomores.
