SOUTH JEFFCO — The letter "a" and the word "aardvark" battled for the distinction of being the first word in the dictionary last week at a South Jeffco apartment. The battle — waged by a man and woman sharing an apartment on West Burgundy Avenue — caused a disturbance so loud that deputies had to respond. The first deputy at the scene heard yelling inside the apartment. There was no response when he knocked on the door, so he knocked on the bedroom window.
