Robin Johnson of Arvada will fill the Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education seat vacated when former board president Scott Benefield resigned June 30.

Johnson has three children in Jeffco Public Schools and has been active at her local parent-teacher association, according to a statement from the school district. She’ll take the oath of office at 6 p.m. Sept. 3 at the district’s headquarters.

Johnson will have to run for re-election Nov. 1 if she hopes to keep the seat.

Johnson’s appointment was approved at the Aug. 10 board meeting. Also at the meeting, board member Sue Marinelli was named board president, and Rick Rush of South Jeffco was named secretary/treasurer.
