Chargers stave off Kent, get help to reach playoffs

DENVER — Their name has been slotted into the bracket, and at this point, that’s all that matters.
Chatfield hockey beat Kent Denver 4-3 on Feb. 13 at Big Bear Ice Arena to help secure a playoff spot in the state tournament.
The Chargers lost two nights later at Monarch 8-1, but through a series of tiebreakers beat out Summit and Battle Mountain for the final playoff slot. All three schools finished with 11 points in Foothills Conference play.
