DENVER – It was the hottest day of 2010, thus far, and the weather was warm. But nobody was hotter than the top-ranked Cherry Creek girls lacrosse team.
Columbine found that out firsthand as the fourth-seeded Rebels lost 28-9 in the state semifinals to the Bruins on May 22 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on the campus of the University of Denver.
Cherry Creek advanced to the state title game, to be played May 26 at Barton Stadium, against No. 2 seed Denver East, a 17-13 winner over Kent Denver in the other semifinal.
