Cultural Council allocates $885,557 to 82 groups

The Jefferson County Cultural Council recommended distributing $885,557 in grant money to 82 cultural organizations and projects in the county for 2012.

The amount is down 11 percent from the $994,073 available from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District for 2012. (The money to be used in 2013 is distributed in 2012.)

The total amount requested in 2012 was $1.35 million, meaning groups got an average of about 65 percent of what they requested.
