Friends of Air Life hosts the 17th Annual Air Life Memorial Run/Walk to Celebrate and Remember the Heroes of EMS
The run/walk seeks to raise funds for the memorial site of the 1997 Air Life helicopter crash, Colorado EMS education and charitable assistance for families of fallen EMS professionals
WHAT: The 17th Annual Air Life Memorial Run/Walk and EMS Celebration benefitting Friends of Air Life. The event includes a 5k/10k run, 5k walk and kids fun run, a“fire/EMS muster” and numerous activities for all ages to enjoy.
WHEN: Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. (registration opens at 7am)
WHERE: The Hudson Gardens and Event Center, 6115 South Santa Fe Drive, Littleton
WHY: Each year, Friends of Air Life hosts the event in honor of the everyday heroes in EMS and those who have lost their lives. The race was created in memory of Pete Albplanalp, Beth Barber, Leslie Feldmann and Julie Olmstead, who died on Dec. 14, 2007, in an Air Life helicopter crash and related car accident. Since its inception, the race has evolved to include honoring the fallen heroes of air medical, EMS, fire and police, as well as the beloved Friends of Air Life founder, Jim Ulrich, who lost his battle with leukemia in Dec. 2006.
MORE: Friends of Air Life is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Donations received by Friends of Air Life are used to maintain the Air Life Memorial Park located at the site of the 1997 crash, Colorado EMS education through the Jim Ulrich Scholarship Fund, the Jim Ulrich Silver Falcon Award recognizing local EMS leaders, and charitable assistance to families of EMS professionals who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
