A standoff between an armed man in his home near Morrison and the Jeffco sheriff’s SWAT team on Friday ended with the suspect being shot and taken to a hospital.
The standoff began Friday morning when the Sheriff’s Office received a call about alleged domestic violence in the 1200 block of West Grand Drive. A woman in the home was taken to the hospital for examination, while a man, who hadn’t been identified by press time, barricaded himself inside.
After several hours of negotiations, the suspect and police exchanged gunfire while the suspect was still in the house.
The man suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood. No other injuries were reported.
About 60 people in the surrounding neighborhood received a notification from the Sheriff’s Office to remain inside their homes during the standoff.
