Only incumbents registered to run so far in district where funds disappeared

Four board seats are up for election this May in the Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District, which has faced financial challenges in the wake of a former chief being charged with stealing $643,000.

So far, only incumbents Michael Reddy, Joseph Marcus, Karl Firor and Leslie Caimi are running; all signed self-nomination forms at Inter-Canyon’s board meeting Feb. 12.

Marcus’ seat has a two-year term. Ralph Dreher’s term ends in May 2016.

Reddy and Marcus were serving on the board when the $643,000 in district funds vanished over three years.

The Evergreen-based law firm Toussaint, Nemer & Coaty is serving as election official for Inter-Canyon.

The deadline to turn in a self-nomination form to TNC is Feb. 28. Eligible candidates must be registered voters. Board members are typically expected to attend monthly meetings, approve district spending, and work with volunteers and staff members.
