A deadly collision between a car and a bicycle closed southbound Wadsworth Boulevard from C-470 to Deer Creek Canyon Road for more than two hours on June 8.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis, an adult female driver in a Toyota SUV was traveling southbound in the right lane on Highway 121. There were two bicyclists traveling along the shoulder, one of which went into the right lane of traffic. Lewis said it was unclear if the cyclist fell or swerved into the traffic.

CSP confirmed that cyclist Steven Pye, 54, of Littleton was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were not injuries to the other bicyclist or the driver, who remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.

However, as of Tuesday afternoon, an investigation into the accident is still ongoing, said CSP Trooper Nate Reid.

The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on June 8.
