Syna Morgan has been hired as Jeffco Public Schools’ chief academic officer.
The 24-year education veteran served as Douglas County Schools’ chief system performance officer since 2010. Before that, she was a director with the Colorado Department of Education.
“The thing that’s most exciting to me is that the education world is shifting, and we really have to provide an educational system that is adaptive and meets the needs of our students,” Morgan said in a statement. “I honor and value the work of our teachers because the interaction of quality teachers with students is what makes the best educational experience for kids.”
Morgan, a Colorado native, has a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Nevada.
“Her knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment is exceptional,” Jeffco Superintendent Dan McMinimee, also a former Dougco administrator, said in a statement. “She will lead our team forward in a positive and balanced way with a focus on student achievement and growth.”
Morgan replaces Heather Beck, who left last month to become superintendent of Lake Oswego Schools in Oregon.
