Jeffco Public Schools is paying Ray and Associates slightly less than what it paid the executive search firm in 2014 to find a new superintendent.
According to the 14-page contract with the Iowa-based firm, the school district will pay $34,000 total in three installments for the five-stage search process, which includes collecting input from district staff, the school board and community stakeholders; developing candidate profiles; assisting in the recruitment and screening of candidates; presenting the candidates to the district and school board; and assisting with the final decision.
Entered into Jan. 30, the contract stipulates a number of requirements, including advertising the position nationally in several board-selected publications; a review of references and candidates’ usage of social media; providing the school board “with an opportunity to observe each top candidate interviewed with questions specifically designed by Ray and Associates Inc. through video technology” and more.
Ray and Associates was one of at least five search firms the district approached after the school board voted to search for a new superintendent on Jan. 12, including the Colorado Association of School Boards, SchoolConnect, BWP and Associates and ECRA Group Inc. In addition, more than 1,200 vendors were sent the request for quotation via the Rocky Mountain e-Purchasing website, and 33 downloaded and viewed the documents.
