Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman conditionally certified Jeffco's voting equipment last week, partially paving the way for the county to conduct elections this fall without having to invest in a new voting system.
But Jeffco Clerk and Recorder Pam Anderson said there's still some uncertainty resulting from legislation that would require paper ballots at every polling location, a move she's estimated will cost the county $1.3 million.
"If we do get our equipment made whole, we could proceed," Anderson said. "But there's still some ongoing uncertainty."
