SOUTH JEFFCO — A would-be thief tried to score a Brandon Marshall jersey at the Sports Authority on West Bowles Avenue on Dec. 9, but a security guard flagged him down and sent him to the sidelines.

The light-fingered Broncos fan allegedly used a handy tool to liberate the theft-prevention device from the jersey before stuffing the prized sweater down the front of his pants. He then headed for the goal line. A security guard tackled the thief outside, and he ultimately was flagged for theft and criminal mischief.

Worker’s high-octane appearance throttled down

SOUTH JEFFCO — An employee of an area gas station, bolstered by liquid courage, showed up to talk with his boss about a paycheck on Dec. 6. The boss sent the boozy underling on his way and called the sheriff, and deputies caught up with him down the street. During a search of the tipsy trouper, deputies found a green leafy substance that the man quickly admitted was marijuana. The woozy worker was cited for possession of less than 1 ounce of pot and escorted to his nearby home.
