Linda Stoll, executive director of food services for Jeffco Public Schools, received the Silver Leadership Award during the National Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence award ceremony on Jan. 15.
Stoll was recognized for her leadership as a new executive director in her school district. She had goals to make the nutrition program more responsive to student and parent expectations, and she started with conducting comprehensive focus groups to gain feedback from students, parents and school staff. From this research, the program developed a build-your-own-burrito bar, Asian bowl as well as bars that serve burgers and pasta are featured in secondary schools three days a week. The implementation of the program has increased participation by 25 percent on bar days.
Stoll volunteers her time in many leadership roles in her community as well as in the national and state school nutrition associations.
