A quick survey of retailers and shoppers at Southwest Plaza Mall on Dec. 1 found mixed reviews when it came to sales over the Thanksgiving weekend, traditionally the busiest time of the year for stores.
"It was phenomenal," said Josh Melver, general manager at the Sears store at Southwest Plaza. "The customer response was amazing."
Melver said the store opened at 5 a.m. Nov. 28, but most of the staff came in about 3:30 that morning. Those employees were busy all day, he said, with lines at every register through about 4 p.m.
