Why was six afraid of seven? Because seven, eight, nine. That’s how the joke goes, but on Sept. 13 the joke could have gone more like this — why were the Lady Rebels afraid of batters six, seven and eight? Because each of them homered to help Chatfield shut out host Columbine 7-0.
The numbers tell the story. Jersey numbers six, seven and eight each homered. No. 6 played batted in the seven hole, while No. 7 was in the six hole and the end score was 7-0. Eerie? Just a little.
