LAKEWOOD – Score. Repeat. Advance.
That was the workmanlike performance Chatfield turned in May 7 as the third-seeded Chargers breezed through the first round of the Class 5A girls soccer state tournament with a 4-0 victory over No. 30 Central of Grand Junction.
The match at Lakewood Memorial Field was in doubt for all of 11 minutes before Tori Delmonico scored the opening goal and the Chargers (15-1-0) never looked in danger of allowing the Warriors (9-7-0) a chance to equalize.
