Chargers on fire
Chatfield opened the 2008 season with a pair of convincing wins.
The Chargers (2-0) defeated Chaparral 12-2 on March 11, and rocked Grand Junction Central 12-0 a day later. Mark Shannon was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Casey Coy picked up the win, allowing just one hit and striking out six in four innings of work. Coy also had two hits and two RBIs at the plate.
Eagles bounce back
Dakota Ridge rebounded from its first loss of the season – a 7-1 setback to Cherry Creek on March 8 – with an 8-6 victory over Ponderosa on March 13.
Eric Cain was 4-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBIs. JC Ochoa was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Eagles, who don’t play again until their annual Spring Break trip to Arizona. Columbine and Chatfield also play in Arizona during the week-long break.
Dakota remains unbeaten
The Eagles picked up a nice 1-0 Jeffco League win over Green Mountain on March 13 at Lakewood Memorial Field, running its record to 2-0-1 on the year. Emily Holley tallied the winning goal for Dakota Ridge.
Columbine gets first win
After dropping their first two games of the season, the Rebels picked up their first win of 2008, defeating Eaglecrest 3-2 on March 13.
Columbine played rival Dakota Ridge at 5 p.m. March 18 at Lakewood Memorial Field.
Chargers beat Bears, Hawks
Chatfield allowed its first goal of the 2008 season March 14 against Horizon, but still picked up its fourth consecutive victory. The 2-1 win improved Chatfield’s record to 4-0 on the season.
A day earlier, the Chargers defeated Bear Creek 3-0 to pick up their first Jeffco League win.
Rebels pick up pair
Columbine edged past Ralston Valley, 9-8, on March 12, then dominated Summit 15-3 on March 14.
Both games were Jeffco League contests, and bumped the Rebels’ record up to 2-1 (the March 6 Green Mountain season opener wasn’t reported) on the season.
Columbine takes on rival Dakota Ridge at 7 p.m. March 20 at the North Area Athletic Complex.
Eagles fall to Demons
Rachel Hebberd’s six goals paced Golden to a 17-6 Jeffco League win over Dakota Ridge.
Chargers drop first game
Ashley Sanders and Rachel O’Neill each had two goals in Chatfield’s 14-8 loss to Ralston Valley on March 14.
