IDAHO SPRINGS — An unusual act of sportsmanship developed Aug. 8 out of a game of long-legged brinkmanship.
Jason Delaney and James McGown were neck and neck for the first 12 miles of the annual Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon.
Delaney, of Golden, was the men’s defending champion and also won the race three years ago. He got out quickly from the start in Georgetown and set the early pace.
“He’s younger, so he gets out fast,” said McGown, 34.
