Even though Jeffco Schools Superintendent Cindy Stevenson will be leaving her position four months earlier than expected, it won’t change the process for finding a new leader for the district.
“We are still on course and will continue to search for a new superintendent,” Witt said Saturday.
The Jeffco Board of Education was tasked with finding a new superintendent after Stevenson announced her retirement Nov. 7. Her last day was slated for June 30, but she announced Saturday her last day will be Feb. 21.
Requests for proposals were sent to search firms in January. Four companies responded, and the school board settled on two search firms at its Feb. 5 study session. The board will interview Proact and Ray and Associates.
“Usually, you’ll want the firms to address their polices and strategies,” Betty Standley, Jeffco’s director of purchasing, told the board. “You’ll want to discuss fees, and we want them to demonstrate how they’ll operate.”
Teams from Proact and Ray and Associates will make presentations to the board Feb. 18. Each firm will have 30 minutes before facing 30 minutes of questions from board members.
According to the board’s goals, a contract with one of the search firms will be in place by March 1. The board hopes to have Jeffco’s new superintendent hired by early this summer.
District, board seek budget input
Jeffco Public Schools is seeking input from parents, teachers, students and community members as the district shapes its 2014-15 spending plan.
A survey is posted at www

• 9:30 to 11 a.m. March 8 — Dakota Ridge High School and Lakewood High School.
