Sigg formally charged with murder in Jessica Ridgeway slaying

ACC student is being charged as an adult

The suspect in the abduction and slaying of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway has been charged as an adult with four counts of first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, sexual assault of a child and two counts of crimes of violence.

Austin Reed Sigg, 17, is also facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted sexual assault and attempted second-degree kidnapping in connection with the attempted abduction of a woman who was jogging at Ketner Lake on May 28.

Sigg, a student at Arapahoe Community College, appeared in Jefferson County Court on Tuesday morning with stringent security measures in place. He is being held in the Mount View Youth Services Center.

Jessica vanished Oct. 5 while walking from her home to school in Westminster. He body was found on Oct. 9 in an Arvada open space area.

Sigg was arrested after a tip led police to a home near Ketner Lake Open Space in Westminster.
