McDondle, Seeley named to South team for CHSCA game
Columbine’s Bernard McDondle and Dakota Ridge’s Brant Seeley have been selected to play for the South squad in the 2014 Colorado High School Coaches Association All-State football game this June at Adams State University.
McDondle rushed for 1,754 yards and 25 touchdowns in leading Columbine to a 10-2 record and a 5A Super Six Conference title. The Rebels reached the quarterfinals of the 5A state tournament.
Seeley was a senior captain for the Eagles, who went 8-4 and reached the quarterfinals of the 4A state tournament.
Anderson, Lopez’s hitting helps Columbine get off to a 7-0 start
Austin Anderson went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored as Columbine improved to 7-0 with a 6-3 win over Sherwood (Ore.) High School on March 27 during the Rebels’ spring break trip to the Coach Bob National Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz.
Kyle Lopez also went 4-for-4 with three RBIs for Columbine, which went 4-0 in its trip to Arizona.
The Rebels also posted wins over Marist of Eugene, Ore. (12-5), Farmington, N.M. (6-3) and Piedra Vista of Farmington, N.M. (7-3).
Moore, Winkler spark Chatfield’s comeback over Moon Valley
Blake Moore went 2-for-3 with a double, homer and two RBIs as Chatfield rallied from an early four-run deficit to topple Moon Valley 13-6 in the Greenway Festival in Phoenix, Ariz., on March 28.
Kyle Winkler also homered and drove in four runs for Chatfield, while Nick Chamberlain and Matthew Jarecki drove in two runs each. In all, the Chargers had 15 hits, including six extra-base hits.
With the win, the Chargers improved to 7-0 on the season, including 4-0 during their spring break trip to Arizona.
Eagles grab an early lead, hold off McKay in Arizona
Dakota Ridge built an early six-run lead and held on for an 8-5 win over McKay High of Salem, Ore., during the Coach Bob National Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz., on March 27.
Bryce Evans went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Eagles (5-3), while Bailey Collins scored two runs. Dakota Ridge went 2-2 during the Arizona trip, including a 10-4 win over Hillsboro (Ore.) High School two days earlier.
