Winkler, Chargers come out firing in season opener
ORLANDO, Fla. — Kyle Winkler completed 11 of 12 passes for 72 yards, including a TD pass to Taylor Lammers, as the Chatfield Chargers opened the 2014 season with a weather-shortened 24-14 victory over Everglades (Fla.) on Aug. 21.
Sean O’Dell and Jake Carstensen combined to rush for 75 yards with Carstensen adding a TD run. Dalton Keene had 12 tackles, including 10 assists.
Chatfield jumped out to a 21-0 lead after one quarter and was ahead 24-7 at the break. Becca Meares connected on a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter. Tylor Rowles scored the Chargers’ other TD.

Wheat Ridge rallies in the 7th, tops Chatfield in extra innings
WHEAT RIDGE — Analece Apodaca went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored and Wheat Ridge rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh and the winning run in the eighth to upend Chatfield 9-8 on Aug. 21.
The loss dropped the Lady Chargers to 1-2 on the season.

Dakota Ridge wins shootout at Rock Canyon
HIGHLANDS RANCH — Baillie Brooks and Melissa Mages drove in four runs each as Dakota Ridge improved to 3-0 with a 15-10 shootout victory over host Rock Canyon on Aug. 23.
Brooks, who was one of six players to score multiple runs, crossed the plate three times.
Megan Sansburn pitched 5 2/3 innings of relief ball to get the win. 

Columbine bounces back in the 7th to upend Cherokee Trail
AURORA — Shelby Copley went 3-for-3 with six RBIs to lead Columbine to its first victory of the season, a 12-11 come-from-behind win at Cherokee Trail on Aug. 23.
The Lady Rebels scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to overcome an 11-8 deficit. 
Adi Bong and Jeni Mohr also drove in two runs for Columbine.
