DR, Chatfield, Columbine to play in 5A state tournament
Dakota Ridge (14-9), the No. 7 seed in the Carol Callan Region, will host 10th-seeded Legend (9-14) on Feb. 22 in the first round of the 5A state tournament.
Ninth-seeded Chatfield (11-12), also in the region, travels to eighth-seeded Loveland (11-10), while 11th-seeded Columbine (8-15) plays a first-round game in the Kaye Garms Region at sixth-seeded Cherry Creek (13-10).

Columbine earns bye; Chatfield, DR make 5A state field
The Columbine Rebels, the 5A Jeffco League champions, received a first-round bye and will host a second-round game on Feb. 24 in this year’s 5A state basketball tournament.
Columbine (19-4), the No. 2 seed in the Ray Ball Region, will host the winner of the Liberty-Mullen first-round game. The winner will advance to the Sweet 16 on Feb. 28.
Jeffco League rivals Chatfield and Dakota Ridge also made the 48-team field.
The fifth-seeded Chargers (13-10) played host to 12th-seeded Heritage (8-14) on Feb. 21 in the first round of the R.W. Truscott Region. Meanwhile, Dakota Ridge (11-12), the eighth seed in the Ray Ball Region, played host to ninth-seeded Rocky Mountain (15-8). Chatfield plays Fountain Valley in first round of 2012 playoffs
The Chatfield Chargers (12-6-1) received a No. 4 seed and will play Fountain Valley (14-5) in the first round of the 16-team state hockey playoffs on Feb. 24 at Big Bear Ice Arena in Denver.
