Aparicio’s 41-yard field goal boots Rebels past Pine Creek
COLORADO SPRINGS — Columbine junior Jeremy Aparicio hit a 41-yard field goal as time expired to help the defending 5A state champion Rebels escape with a 13-10 win over host Pine Creek on Sept. 15 at District 20 Stadium.
Aparicio had hit a 23-yarder earlier in the first quarter as Columbine (2-1) took a 10-0 lead. Bernard McDondle had earlier dashed off an 83-yard TD run.
Pine Creek (0-3), the 4A state runner-up in 2011, tied the game in the middle two quarters behind a 1-yard Kamden Adkins’ run and a 34-yard Ian Fletcher field goal.
Visiting Farmers plow past Littleton in convincing fashion
Wheat Ridge forced a running clock by early in the second half en route to a 56-0 shutout of host Littlton on Sept. 14 at Littleton Public Schools Stadium.
The Lions (0-4) were blanked for the first time this season.
Littleton, which plays at Broomfield on Sept. 21, has been outscored 158-37 this season.
McNeil homers as Ralston Valley stuns host Dakota Ridge
Krista McNeil homered and seven different players scored runs as Ralston Valley stunned host Dakota Ridge 7-2 on Sept. 15 at Dave Atencio Field.
The loss snapped the Lady Eagles’ 11-game winning streak.
Dakota Ridge (11-2, 1-1 5A Jeffco) had taken an early 2-0 lead in the first, but Ralston Valley (6-5-1, 2-1) scored three runs in the second, another in the fourth and capped the game with a three-run seventh.
Cassidy Creekmore drove in both Dakota Ridge runs. The Lady Eagles finished with five hits — four of them singles. The only extra-base hit was Kristyn Peters’ double.
Bishop, Legend send Chatfield to first defeat of 2012 season
PARKER — Ben Bishop scored one of two Legend goals as the Titans sent Chatfield to its first defeat of the season 2-0 at Sports Authority Stadium on Sept. 15.
Chatfield had been unbeaten in its first six games, including 2-0-1 in the recent 5A/4A South Jeffco Invitational. The loss dropped the Chargers to 5-1-1 on the season.
Steven Seagraves made four saves for the Chargers.
Fast, Dakota Ridge double up on host Vista Peak
AURORA — Jake Fast and three other players scored goals as Dakota Ridge topped Vista Peak 4-2 on Sept. 13.
Zach Barwick, Jacob Bickley and Jorge Marquez also scored for the Eagles.
Dakota Ridge (4-2) has won three of it past four games.
