Lecker, Lady Chargers post straight-set victory over Rebels

Sydney Lecker had a team-high 10 kills as Chatfield scored a 25-20, 25-22, 25-23 victory over rival Columbine on Oct. 19 at Columbine High School.
The win was Chatfield’s fourth straight and 10th in 11 games.
Megan Bohn added eight kills for the Lady Chargers (14-4, 7-1 5A Jeffco). Rachel Flores had 25 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore Tori Passarelli had a team-best 19 digs.
The loss dropped Columbine to 8-10 overall, 4-4 in league play. The  Lady Rebels have dropped two straight and four of their past six matches.

Brozovich returns as Chatfield pulls off victory over Mullen
— Mason Brozovich, playing in his first game since Sept. 13, threw for one touchdown and rushed for two more as Chatfield stunned Mullen, 28-21, on Oct. 18 at Jeffco Stadium.
Brozovich, who hasn’t played since suffering a high ankle sprain against Dakota Ridge, threw a TD pass to Jake Thayer.
Brendan Murphy rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown for the Chargers (6-2, 3-1 5A Super 6), who’ve won six of their past seven and share the conference lead with Arapahoe (7-1, 3-1). The teams will play for the conference title Oct. 26 at Littleton Public Schools Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Lakewood avenges state title game defeat against Columbine
— Wade Scadden’s 3-yard TD run — his third score of the game — helped Lakewood avenge last year’s 5A state title game defeat with a 31-28 win over Columbine on Oct. 19 at Jeffco Stadium.
Sean Pinson-Boogs rushed for 261 yards and a score, while Reid Sangster hit a 40-yard field goal for Lakewood (5-3, 2-2 5A Super 6).
Michael Burns rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, while Bernard McDondle added 132 yards rushing and a score for Columbine (5-3, 2-2).
Burns also threw a TD pass to Garrett Hyde for the Rebels, who’ve lost two straight and fallen out of contention for the league title.

Koch, Eagles can’t keep up with league-leader Denver South
— Zac Koch threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns, but Dakota Ridge (5-3, 1-2 4A Plains) couldn’t stop Denver South in a 42-28 setback Oct. 19.
Josh Morrison caught eight passes for 131 yards, while Aaron Nelson rushed for 110 yards on 26 carries for the Eagles.
The win improved the Rebels to 7-1 overall, 3-0 in league play.
