BOYS BASKETBALL
Malmstrom, Lions score win in opener against host Conifer
CONIFER
— Ashton Malmstrom led three players in double figures with a game-high 25 points as visiting Littleton scored a 75-53 victory over Conifer on Nov. 30.
Nicolas Giordano added 23 points and nine assists, while Andreas Malmstrom scored 17 points for the Lions in the regular-season opener.
The Lobos were led by Caleb Henderson, who scored 17 points. Fellow senior Adam Macaulay scored 14 points.

Chargers off to 2-0 start with victory over Loveland
Chatfield has opened the 2012-13 regular season 2-0 following a 74-68 home victory over Loveland on Nov. 30.
The Chargers defeated Douglas County 92-56 in the season opener two days earlier.
Alec Wray scored 18 points, Darius Reiter added 16 and Michael Hampson had 15 in the victory over Douglas County.

Dakota Ridge wins two out of three at Fossil Ridge tournament
FORT COLLINS
— Dakota Ridge went on a 13-2 run to open the game and never looked back en route to a 51-34 win over Rocky Mountain at the Fossil Ridge Invitational on Dec. 1.
Dakota Ridge is now 2-1 early in the season.
The Eagles opened the tournament with a 42-32 win over Montbello before falling to host Fossil Ridge 70-53 in the second round.

Front Range Christian rebounds to top Pikes Peak Christian
KIOWA
—  Front Range Christian bounced back from a season-opening loss to Elbert with a 50-31 win over Pikes Peak Christian on Dec. 1 at the Kiowa Invitational.
Front Range Christian broke the game open in the second and third quarters, outscoring Pikes Peak Christian 30-14.
The Falcons lost their opener 47-34 a day earlier.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Vaninger, Lawrence carry Chatfield to opening victory

Kristi Vaninger and Kelsi Lawrence scored 15 points each as Chatfield rallied for a 61-46 season-opening win against Douglas County on Nov. 28 at Chatfield Senior High School.
Douglas County jumped out to a 19-14 lead after one quarter before the Lady Chargers took a two-point lead at halftime. Chatfield outscored Douglas County 47-27 over the final three quarters.
Chatfield dropped to 1-1 three days later following a 55-36 defeat at Cherry Creek.

Lady Falcons start off 2-0 with pair of wins at Kiowa tourney
KIOWA
— Katherine Oosthuizen scored 15 points, while Leah Griffiths and Janell Hill added 10 each in Front Range Christian’s 49-25 rout of host Kiowa on Dec. 1.
The Lady Falcons beat Elbert 30-25 in the season opener.

HOCKEY
Erber scores four times in Chatfield’s season-opening win

Collin Erber scored four goals, while Logan Greene and Brian Vits assisted on two of them in Chatfield’s 5-2 season-opening win over Summit on Nov. 30 at the Edge Ice Arena.
Jay Tanji scored the Chargers’ other goal as Chatfield, which had 41 shots on goal, never trailed.
Nick Ross made 22 saves in net for Chatfield, which dropped to 1-1 a day later following a 5-3 loss to Heritage.
