Speed and agility camp set for Dakota Ridge High School
Dakota Ridge High School is hosting its annual speed and agility camp from June 3-July 3.
The camp runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and is open to children in grades 2 through 12.
The camp runs from 9-10:15 a.m., for grades 2-9 and from 10:30-11:30 for grades 10-12.
Cost is $85. Brochures are available in the main office at Dakota Ridge High School and online at the school’s website at https://sites.google.com/a/jeffcoschools.us/dakota-hs/.

Maier hired as new coach at Dakota Ridge

Doug Maier, who coached boys basketball at Platte Canyon High School in Bailey during the 2011-12 season, has been named the new girls basketball coach at Dakota Ridge High School, athletic director Matt Heckel announced.
Maier, who has more than 20 years of experience in high school and college sports, is also the Chief Operating Officer of Coaches Aid, Inc.
Maier replaces Traci Nemechek, who was fired in March. She led the Lady Eagles to the 5A state tournament in each of her 11 seasons at the helm.
Nemechek was 177-92 during her tenure, which included five 5A Jeffco League championshipS.

Chamberlain does it on the mound, at the plate for Chatfield
— Nick Chamberlain scattered three hits over seven innings while striking out 12 as Chatfield shut out host Bear Creek 4-0 on May 4.
Chamberlain also came through at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Jake Thayer added two hits and Race Fenimore scored twice. In all, the Chargers (10-8 overall, 5-3 5A Jeffco League) collected 10 hits.

Lady Falcons on a roll heading into the 3A state tournament
Jalissa DeHaan, Sophie Kern and Leight Griffiths all scored goals as Front Range Christian ended its regular season with an eight-game unbeaten streak courtesy of a 3-0 win over Denver Christian on May 3.
The Lady Falcons, who’ve won seven straight, led 2-0 at halftime.
Front Range Christian (12-2-1) drew the No. 18 seed in this year’s 3A state tournament and will play No. 15 Roaring Fork (12-2-1) in the first round on May 10. The winner will face either No. 2 Peak to Peak (11-2-2) or No. 31 Florence  (10-4-1) in the second round one day later.
The state finals are scheduled for May 21 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.

Chatfield, Dakota Ridge qualify for 5A state tournament

The Chatfield Lady Chargers and Dakota Ridge Lady Eagles both qualified for the 32-team, 5A girls soccer state tournament.
Chatfield (8-5-2), seeded 20th, will play at No. 13-seeded Chaparral (8-5-2) in the opening round, while Dakota Ridge (5-10), seeded 29th, visits No. 4 Fossil Ridge (11-2-2). It both teams win they would square off against each other in the second round on May 11.
Chatfield and Dakota Ridge squared off twice this season with each team winning 2-0.
The state finals are scheduled for May 22 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
