Trio leads the way as Pine Creek ends Chatfield’s season
COLORADO SPRINGS
— Michael Steffy, Alexander Cullen and Nicholas Farley scored goals as Pine Creek toppled Chatfield 3-0 in the second round of the 5A state tournament on Oct. 30 at D20 Stadium.
The Chargers capped their season with a 12-4-1 record.

Thais, Dakota Ridge tune up for playoffs, topple Littleton
LAKEWOOD
—Braxton Thais threw for 190 yards and one touchdown and rushed for another as Dakota Ridge capped its regular season with a 37-22 win over Littleton on Oct. 31 at Trailblazer Stadium.
Aaron Nelson added 182 yards rushing and a score as the Eagles improved to 7-3, locking up a 4A state playoff berth in the process.
Dakota Ridge, seeded 13th, will travel to Falcon to play the Falcons on Nov. 9 in the first round. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Littleton wrapped up the 2013 season 4-6.

Wentz, Buena Vista overwhelm Front Range Christian in playoffs
BUENA VISTA
— Quarterback Keegan Wentz completed 9-of-11 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns and he rushed for two more scores as top-seeded Buena Vista ended Front Range Christian’s season with a 48-12 win in the first round of the 1A state playoffs on Nov. 2. Tanner Matoba led the Falcons (5-5) with 111 yards rushing and one touchdown.

Lady Chargers’ season ends in Region 5 tourney to Mt. Vista
HIGHLANDS RANCH
— The Chatfield Lady Chargers split a pair of matches at the 5A Region 5 tournament on Nov. 2, ending their season with a 14-11 record.
Chatfield scored a 25-22, 25-17, 25-23 win over Palmer, but was upended in a nip-and-tuck match with host Mountain Vista 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 in the regional finals.

Lady Eagles falter to Grandview, Heritage at Region 1 tourney
AURORA
— Dakota Ridge had its 2013 season ended with back-to-back losses to host Grandview and Heritage at the 5A Region 1 tournament on Nov. 2.
Dakota Ridge (10-15) dropped a 25-10, 25-10, 25-17 decision to host Grandview before bowing out to Heritage in a thriller 18-25, 25-18, 25-22, 26-28, 15-7.
