BOYS BASKETBALL
Pittman, Antrillo lead charge as Dakota Ridge trips Legend

Cody Pittman scored 15 points, while Cambrian Antrillo added 13 points as Dakota Ridge pulled away from Legend for a 54-42 victory on Jan. 4 at Dakota Ridge High School.
The host Eagles (6-1), who led 34-30 entering the fourth quarter, outscored Legend 20-12 in the final eight minutes.
Jake Jones added 10 points, Aiden Erickson scored eight and three other players — Jake Flores, Mason Grothuesmann and Ian MacDonald — contributed to the scoring for Dakota Ridge.
Jones also finished with a team-high eight rebounds, while Flores dished out seven assists.

Rebels rally in the fourth quarter, topple Standley Lake
WESTMINSTER
— Columbine scored 31 of its 66 points in the fourth quarter as the visiting Rebels rallied to topple host Standley Lake 66-56 on Jan. 4.
Columbine (3-6, 1-1 5A Jeffco) trailed 10-7 after one quarter and 38-35 after three before outscoring the Gators 31-18 over the final eight minutes.
The Rebels overcame a 26-point scoring effort by Standley Lake senior Marcus Asmus.
The loss dropped Standley Lake to 6-3 overall, 1-1 in league play.

Lachenmayer’s double-double not enough to propel Lady Chargers
ARVADA
— Emily Lachenmayer scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, but the Chatfield Lady Chargers fell on the road at Pomona 53-41 on Jan. 4 in 5A Jeffco League play.
Kate Gelston and Shelby Piper added eight points apiece for Chatfield (2-6, 0-3 5A Jeffco).
The Lady Chargers led 7-4 after one quarter, but they were outscored 22-10 in the second to trail 26-17 at halftime. Pomona pushed the lead to 10 points — 39-29 — after three quarters.
Pomona improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in league play with the victory.

ICE HOCKEY
Ross’ hat tricks carries Dakota Ridge to victory over Mullen

Jake Ross scored a hat trick with all three goals coming on the power play as Dakota Ridge doubled up Mullen 4-2 at the Edge Ice Arena on Jan. 4.
Ross scored twice in the decisive third period as Dakota Ridge scored three times. His second goal, off an assist from Joey Dolce, with 8 minutes, 48 seconds left in regulation proved to be the game winner.
Taylor Smith scored Dakota Ridge’s other goal.
Dolce and Zach Williams each had two assists. Graehm Konsella, Zach Czarnecki and Zach Ross also added assists for the Eagles (5-0-2, five points Foothills Conference).
Alec Lee scored both of Mullen’s goals.
Joey Owston made 30 saves in net for Dakota Ridge.

Mountain Vista pours it on in the second period, rips Columbine
Tanner Gillis, Robert Yusko, Bryan Hancock and  Brandon Tangney each scored two goals and Mountain Vista exploded for six goals in the second period in a 10-1 rout of Columbine on Jan. 4 at the Edge Ice Arena.
The Golden Eagles scored four goals in the span of 3 minutes, 13 seconds of the second period to open up a 7-1 lead on Columbine.
The Rebels only trailed 2-1 after  one period thanks to an unassisted Jacob Seibold goal, but Mountain Vista pulled away quickly in the second.
Levi Drake and Kaden Stewart also scored for Mountain Vista.
For the game, Mountain Vista outshot Columbine 56-9. Rebels goaltender Ashton Opperman made 36 saves.
