GIRLS BASKETBALL
Hixon, two others spark Yuma post Lady Falcons at regionals
STERLING
— Logan Hixon led three players in double figures as Yuma topped Front Range Christian 72-29 in the first round of the 2A Region 2 tournament on March 7 at Northeastern Junior College.
Peighton Roth added 13 points and Caitlyn Murphy scored 12 for Yuma. Charis Courtney paced the Lady Falcons with 14 points.
Front Range Christian, which finished 16-6, lost two of its final three games. Yuma (23-1) won the regional title and advanced to the eight-team 2A state tournament starting March 13 at CSU-Pueblo.

Front Range Christian ends season with a 76-54 loss to Simla
FOUNTAIN
— Front Range Christian lost its third straight and for the sixth time in eight games 76-54 to Simla in the first round of the 2A Region 8 tournament March 7 at Fountain Middle School.
The Falcons ended their 2013-14 season with a 14-9 record. Simla (22-2), meanwhile, won the regional and will play in the eight-team 2A state tournament beginning March 13 at CSU-Pueblo.
