Jeffco Schools Superintendent Cindy Stevenson has been hired by the Colorado Association of School Executives to fill a new director position.

“(Stevenson) will play a critical role in CASE’s ongoing work to assist school administrators as they seek to improve student results,” Bruce Caughey, CASE executive director, said in a statement.

Caughey said Stevenson will serve as director of the CASE Leadership Initiative and will provide support to school leaders and districts for teaching, learning and improvement.

Stevenson announced her retirement last November after three conservative candidates won seats on the Jeffco Board of Education, drastically changing the political makeup of the board.

Stevenson is expected to start her new position at CASE after the end of this school year. Stevenson’s last day as head of Jeffco Schools is June 30.

“CASE supports education leaders so that our students can all have bright futures, and I am honored to work on critical leadership initiatives through the association,” Stevenson said in a statement.
