Several major streets in South Jeffco are set for improvements in 2014.
Jeffco’s Transportation and Engineering Department plans to finish construction this year on improvements to West Quincy Avenue between Kipling Parkway and Wadsworth Boulevard.
The improvements include adding a through lane in both directions, said Kevin French, head of Transportation and Engineering.
“That project is interesting,” French said. “The project will also include 8-foot sidewalks on the south side of the street and on-street bike lanes.”
French said the county had already started work on the improvements east of Kipling.
Another spot that will see improvements is the intersection of West Bowles Avenue and South Pierce Street. Those upgrades are meant to reduce traffic accidents at the light next to Clement Park and Columbine High School, French said.
The improvements will include bringing the traffic signal closer to the intersection and creating a more well-defined turn lane for westbound traffic on Bowles.
Jeffco also is seeking bids for an improvement project along West Chatfield Avenue between South Pierce Street and South Kendall Boulevard.
French said that project would include adding left-turn lanes and bike lanes to Chatfield.
