A SWAT team’s raid on a home suspected of being involved in property and drug crimes has turned into a murder investigation.
The SWAT team deployed to 7271 S. Weber St. in South Jeffco on Sept. 18 to serve a Jeffco sheriff’s warrant in an investigation of property crimes. The team used a flash-bang device before entering and then arrested Gregory Gruenloht, 42, without incident.
During a subsequent search of the home, the body of Robert Gordon Jr., 51, was discovered. The cause of death is being investigated by the Jeffco coroner's office.
Gruenloht was being held at the Jeffco jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Sheriff’s spokesman Mark Techmeyer said the investigating team was expected to be finished with its work at the home by the end of the day Saturday.
