A 14-year-old boy managed to escape the clutches of a would-be abductor on the evening of Oct. 15 and flee to his South Jeffco home.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred near Falcon Bluffs Middle School between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Monday in the 8200 block of West Toller Avenue.

The teen, who was walking home from a friend’s house, said a man in a dark blue or black sedan began following him and then stopped the car and shouted “Hey!”

The juvenile began to run, but the man reportedly caught him and began pulling him toward the sedan. The boy managed to slip away and ran to his home near Holland and Chatfield, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect was described as a white male, 35 to 40 years old, about 200 pounds with salt-and-pepper hair.

The incident was one of two reported to Jeffco School District parents this week. In Arvada on Monday, a young girl was approached by a man while on her way to school. The girl reported the encounter to school authorities.

The school district is notifying parents of all suspicious incidents in the wake of the slaying of Jessica Ridgeway, who vanished while walking to school Oct. 5 in Westminster.
