Denver Water has closed Waterton Canyon to recreational activities for four days this week, until Saturday morning.
The closure is part of a dust mitigation program. During the four days, both the canyon and the parking lot are closed.
“Waterton Canyon is an extremely popular recreational destination, and we recognize that the four-day closure is an inconvenience,” Brandon Ransom, manager of recreation for Denver Water, said in a news release. “By taking the time to reduce the dust early in the season, however, we’ll provide a better experience for hikers, bikers and runners throughout the rest of the summer.”
Waterton Canyon is located south of Chatfield Reservoir, and the parking lot is off South Wadsworth Boulevard.
The canyon, which is managed by Denver Water, will reopen to the public at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 10.
