LAKEWOOD — Nearing the midway point of the regular season, Columbine’s defense looks like a well-oiled machine.

The Rebels (4-0, 2-0 in Class 5A Jeffco League) nearly pulled off a third straight shutout Sept. 24 against Ralston Valley (3-1, 1-1) in what was one of the most anticipated prep football games on the docket last week.

“With our defense, it’s assignments, keys and execute,” Columbine senior linebacker Nick Stout said after a 21-7 victory at Jeffco Stadium.
