Jeffco authorities appear to be looking for a way to give their reluctant permission for a $2.3 million pedestrian bridge from Golden Ridge across West Sixth Avenue to the RTD light-rail station next to the Jeffco Administration and Courts Building.

The bridge would be paid for mostly by the federal government, which has allotted $1.2 million in Transportation Enhancement funds for the steel span. The Regional Transportation District and Golden have budgeted $750,000 and $300,000, respectively. The city would own and maintain the bridge.

As requested by the governor, Jeffco public trustee Margaret Chapman last week answered a disclosure statement stating there were no conflicts of interests that would interfere with the ethical fulfillment of her responsibilities.

Chapman provided a copy of her disclosure statement to the Columbine Courier on request July 19. It shows she answered “no” to eight questions intended to reveal whether the trustee or a close relative has any business relationship or interest in any entity that works with the public trustee's office.

That was a message at the Share the Trail event at Matthews/Winters Park on July 19 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Denver Municipal Band Wind Festival Cannon Concert sponsored by Foothills Park and Recreation District will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Clement Park in South Jeffco.

The concert will feature four bands and 16 civil war cannons performing "The 1812 Overture." The Sheriff's Office wants the public to be aware this promises to make a lot of booming noises that could cause concern for residents who live in the area but is nothing to be worried about.
