The race for the District 2 county commission seat is heating up, with the two candidates raising nearly $71,000 since October 2007. The Democratic challenger edged the incumbent by roughly $4,000 in the latest reporting period.
Incumbent Republican Kevin McCasky reported raising $33,330 in the latest period, according to state filings, giving him a total of $75,274 in total funds raised since the beginning of his re-election effort.
His challenger, Lakewood Democrat Jason Bane, reported raising $37,455 since he entered the race in January 2008.
