 LITTLETON — Mallory Magana scored a career-high 23 points, and Dakota Ridge had four players in double figures as the 15th-seeded Eagles pulled away from No. 18 Liberty for a 69-47 girls basketball victory Friday night at Dakota Ridge High School.

Shots fired near Ken Caryl and Shaffer Parkway

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed numerous gunshots were fired Friday morning outside of Safeway near Shaffer Parkway and Ken Caryl Avenue.

While the person who fired the weapon hasn’t been located, the Sheriff’s Office was able to confirm the reports from the video provided by a witness, according to Jenny Fulton, spokeswoman with the Sheriff’s Office. No one was injured, and the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office doesn’t believe there is a threat to the public.

Former Morrison officer sentenced to prison

The former second-in-command at the Morrison Police Department was sentenced to prison Thursday morning.

Anthony Paul Joiner, 39, pleaded guilty in December to four felony counts of embezzlement, attempt to influence a public servant, theft and forgery. He will spend 42 months in prison.
