  • Take care of the easy stuff

New Year’s resolutions for 2018 are coming soon. Bah humbug. I’d rather recommend resolutions for other folks to make. Resolutions to change not just big stuff, but everyday annoyances. And this doesn’t even pertain to people in the world’s scariest spots like the Middle East. North Korea. The White House.

  • Traits of political success moving forward

After voters elected Democrat Doug Jones to the United States Senate in what had been considered to be reliably Republican Alabama last week, several national pundits argued that if a Democrat could win in Alabama, that Democrats will win across the board in 2018 and that Jones’ victory is effectively a death knell for the Republican Party.

    Skiing is fun
    Editor:
I’m writing this for my communications merit badge for Scouts. To attain this, I have to write to a local paper about any subject!
Skiing is fun, but we all know it isn’t when all you have is ice. If you’re planning on going skiing this early in the season, don’t because there are blocks of ice everywhere. I just got back from skiing, and it is crowded, and not a lot of runs are open.
My advice: If you go, you’ll probably have to get new skis because you will hit a rock.

Most Americans seem to be saying, it’s about time these unwanted acts are exposed and the perpetrators held accountable. I certainly agree with this sentiment. The common denominator seems to be the arrogant belief by powerful men that their status gives them the right to sexual favors.

  • PERA reform faces challenging proposition

One of the most attractive benefits of government employment is often a pension that used to be the norm among benefits from all employers. That has become increasingly rare as times have changed, and people are less likely to spend their entire careers working for the same employer.
