In the early dark, chilly hours of Easter, thousands of people filed into Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre for the venue’s annual sunrise service.
Spotlights illuminated three on-stage crosses, casting shadows on the rocks behind the stage and welcoming those to the venue for worship.
Some were quiet, heads bowed in prayer in honor of the holiday. Others shared a smile or a kind word with their friends, families and neighbors. But all were bundled in coats, hats, gloves and blankets, waiting patiently for start of the service and the colorful sunrise.
