A Littleton police officer who died in a traffic accident while off duty was laid to rest on Friday.

Officer Kevin Denner, 42, died from injuries he suffered when his motorcycle collided with a car on May 6 in Aurora. He was remembered in a ceremony Friday at Mission Hills Church in Littleton.

“Kevin was not only a tremendous asset to the department, but he was a dedicated friend to many. He will be sorely missed,” said interim Police Chief Gene Enley.

History isn’t always made during epic events. 

Sometimes it only takes a $30 check and two signatures. 

When Jennifer Whitton and Tana Trejillo signed their civil union certificate last Wednesday morning at the Jeffco clerk and recorder’s office, staff members interrupted what they were doing to applaud. 

It was the first same-sex civil union in Jefferson County.

Whitton and Trejillo, together five and a half years, were all smiles as they handed over the $30 check to the county.  

Several people have been arrested in connection with an alleged identity theft ring in Jeffco and Denver, and four suspects remain at large.
District Attorney Peter Weir announced Wednesday that a Jeffco grand jury had issued a 156-count indictment against 11 people alleged to be members of the ID theft ring.  
The ring is accused of stealing almost $26,000 from residents and businesses between April 2012 and last January.

A man wanted by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office that eluded capture Thursday night in South Jeffco has been arrested.

David Shane Gosik, 34, was being sought by authorities in connection with several charges in Douglas and Arapahoe counties. He was arrested May 19 at the Pebble Creek apartment complex near West Hampden Avenue and South Harlan Street.
