  • Ken-Caryl U13 squad enters...

    Be it from hitting grounders to his infielders to launching fly balls to outfielders or keeping a keen eye on his pitchers, Scott Worman has a pretty good handle on his players. 

    He should, after all. He helped coach a handful of them during Ken-Caryl Little League’s regular season.

    Shoot, he’s coached many of them, including his son Dylan, dating back to T-ball. And the ones he didn’t coach, he’s watched them play.

But baseball purists might prefer tournaments under the auspice of the United States Specialty Sports Association, of which the Dakota Ridge Sports Association’s youth teams are a member.

    But when Front Range Christian unexpectedly had an opening, it was a perfect match for the two to come together.

    LAKEWOOD — It might not have surpassed the special memories on the football field at Jeffco Stadium, but Dakota Ridge senior Cale Ferrin found the right way to end his prep sports career.

    Ferrin, who placed third in the high jump at the 5A Jeffco League Championships the previous week, finished fourth at the state meet May 19.
