  • Strategic Lobos topple Littleton

As far as the beginning of the season goes, neither the Littleton Lady Lions nor the Conifer Lady Lobos set off fireworks when they faced one another at Littleton High School on Nov. 30.
Each was coming in after a season-opening loss. But, as in every game, there can only be one winner. This time it was the Lady Lobos who claimed victory 63-51.

  • Snow measures up in Rebels’ win

Josh Perkins lived up to the hype. The Regis Jesuit junior, as evidence of the attention he has gained, which included scouts from the University of Colorado and Kansas University in attendance — one being CU head coach Tad Boyle — put on quite the show.
With a red sleeve covering his left arm, the Raiders sharp-shooter was all flash in scoring a game-high 39 points. But Columbine’s Jon Snow matched him almost point for point, scoring a career-best 37 points.

  • Girls basketball: ‘No regrets’...

    By Will Petersen
    For the Courier
The music blares through the speakers and about 15 girls, all perfectly in rhythm, are staying on beat. This certainly isn’t a dance practice though. The basketballs bouncing off the floor, all at the same time, are a good reminder where you are.

  • Boys basketball: Snow will be...

Jon Snow won’t have to look too hard to recognize that the 2012-13 Columbine Rebels’ boys basketball team has a different makeup than the past two seasons.
In head coach Clay Thielking’s first couple of years at the helm he’s only led Columbine to a 36-15 record, including a 21-5 season a year ago which included a 5A Jeffco League title and a berth in the Great Eight. That’s quite the change from the four previous losing seasons from 2006-2010.
