  • Chatfield locks up handful of...

Elite swimmers can make bagging state qualifying times look as easy as a paddle through the kiddie pool. It’s a feat most aspire to, but even elite swimmers have to claim their first before they can move forward.
That is exactly what Chatfield junior Travis Roundy did March 16.

  • Long ball spoils Dakota Ridge’s...

There wasn’t much that relief pitcher Nick Silva could see that was wrong with his pitch, other than it was a little higher than he would’ve liked. However, that proved to be just enough.
On just his third pitch Silva served up the second of back-to-back homers to Cherokee Trail, this one a solo shot by Madison McIntosh in the seventh inning as the visiting Cougars spoiled Dakota Ridge’s home opener 4-3 on March 16.

  • Amme, Columbine has their way...

LAKEWOOD — Everybody loses sometimes. It's just a matter of how people deal with it whenever they lose. Dakota Ridge had a tough time accepting its 18-10 loss to Columbine on March 10 at Trailblazer Stadium.
With one second to go in the game, Lady Eagles senior Amy Franks was given a penalty for dangerous play. She was then ejected from the game for vehemently disagreeing with the call. Dakota Ridge coach Kimberly Peyrouse declined comment after the game and wouldn't allow anyone on the team to comment either.

  • Resilient Rebels surprise Regis

LAKEWOOD — If there were any questions just how resilient of a bunch the Columbine Rebels can be those were answered right off the bat.
Ryan Kelly scored the game-winning goal late in overtime after Regis Jesuit had tied the score in the closing seconds of regulation as Columbine upended the defending state champions 8-7 in the boys lacrosse season opener March 9 at Trailblazer Stadium.

  • Ball finally bounces Russell,...

LITTLETON — It’s not like Evergreen didn’t have it chances earlier. It did. But it took a free kick and subsequent Kylee Russell goal to finally put an end to Littleton’s winnning streak against it.
Russell’s goal in the 62nd minute proved to be the game’s only score as the Lady Cougars toppled host Littleton 1-0 in its season opener at Littleton Public Schools Stadium on March 10. Evergreen snapped the Lady Lions’ three-game winning streak in the series.

  • START OF A NEW ERA

Tyson Butler, no matter what happens from here on out, will forever go down as a part of Dakota Ridge history. And it only took the Eagles sophomore 23 seconds to do so.
Before March 10, Dakota Ridge High School has never played a boys lacrosse game much less hosted one. But not only did the school host its first game, but it was against fellow first-year program Clear Creek.
And Butler, a sophomore attacker, punched home the first of a bevy of goals scored by Dakota Ridge in a 15-1 victory.
