    LAKEWOOD — The seventh-ranked Dakota Ridge girls lacrosse team flexed its muscle on April 27 in a 20-9 victory over Evergreen.

    “I’m very pleased with our team after today,” said Evergreen head coach Kevin Krum. “We have a very young team, first year program and I’m proud of how good this young team played against a strong program like Dakota Ridge.”

    Chatfield junior pitcher Blake Dickman helped himself out before he even took the mound Tuesday, April 25, at Dakota Ridge High School.

    Dickman belted a two-run home run in the top of the first inning in the Class 5A Jeffco League baseball game that decided the No. 1 seed for the upcoming conference tournament.

    ARVADA — Columbine junior Kaitlyn Weiser broke the ice and the floodgates opened up April 14 at the North Area Athletic Complex.

    Weiser’s rocket of a shot zipped inside the far post in the 17th minute to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead in the critical Class 5A Jeffco League girls soccer game against Arvada West.

    Chatfield head coach Robert Campbell was thrown for a loop during the winter sports season. His starting No. 1 single player Grace Koza was injured during the first basketball game of the season. Koza had been a starter for three straight seasons; the injury left a void in the lineup for the Chargers.

  • Dakota Ridge survives OT scare

    LAKEWOOD — Dakota Ridge’s boys lacrosse team needed someone to step up in overtime Friday at Trailblazer Stadium.

    With the Eagles’ undefeated record on the line, senior midfielder Max Mowry scored in the first couple of minutes of overtime against Lakewood to give Dakota Ridge a 14-13 victory in the 5A Jeffco League game.

  • Chargers show pride despite loss

    DENVER — Before each face-off, the Chatfield boys lacrosse teams chants “Chargers, Chargers, Chargers,” something started by head coach Nick Mandia.

    Despite its 0-7 record, Chatfield has as much pride as any team in the state. The Chargers showed grit and determination in a 13-5 loss to Denver East on April 5.
