LITTLETON — Believe it or not, Chatfield’s baseball team is well ahead of where it was at this point last season.
Yes, the Chargers advanced all the way to the Class 5A state championship game before falling short in the title game against Rock Canyon. However, Chatfield didn’t win its third game of the 2015 season until April 20. A rough 1-8 start before Chatfield’s remarkable late-season run is something that still sticks with this current group of Chargers.
LITTLETON — Brittany Wilson is back on the high school soccer field.
As one of the top young goalkeepers — not only in the state of Colorado, but nationally — she will compete at the high school level this spring. After two seasons playing for Chatfield, Wilson trained with her Real Colorado club boys team last spring instead of playing for the Chargers.
BOULDER — It took the defending state champions, along with one of the top recruits in the nation, to end Chatfield’s boys basketball season.
Overland ended the Chargers’ 15-game winning streak with a 72-50 victory in the Class 5A state semifinals March 11 at the Coors Events Center in Boulder. The Trailblazers’ 6-foot-10, 240-pound senior De’Ron Davis, who will play for Indiana University next season, powered Overland on both ends of the court against Chatfield.
BOULDER — It wasn’t the ending Chatfield’s boys basketball team envisioned when it stepped onto the court at the Coors Events Center in Boulder last Friday night.
The Chargers had aspirations of upsetting the defending Class 5A state champion Overland Trailblazers in the semifinals March 11, in turn, getting a shot to win Chatfield’s first boys hoops state title since 1992 the next day in the title game.
