13th Annual Second Wind Walk/Run (raises funds for youth suicide prevention)

09/21/2014 - 10:00am

The Second Wind Fund program connects children and youth at risk of suicide to licensed, specialized counseling when they have no other access to care and pays for up to 12 sessions! The program’s unique approach breaks barriers to treatment so that a young person at risk for suicide can be seen by an approved provider in their community within one week.

Every year since 2002, the Annual Second Wind Walk/Run event raises funds to save the lives of children and youth at risk for suicide. With suicide as the second leading cause of death for young people in Colorado, more than 2,000 participants are needed for the September 21st event to help youth who are struggling with suicidal thoughts and don’t have access to the care they need.

Whether you are a 1-mile walker, 3-mile stroller, or 5K qualifying runner, this is a wonderful event for all ages. The admission fee includes a walk or run registration, a memorial dove release, an event t-shirt, BBQ lunch, live music, entertainment, family activities, free massages, and our wildly popular silent auction!

All funds raised will help Second Wind Fund continue its important work. Your registration to this September 21st event helps save lives! In the words of William James, “Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.”

The Second Wind Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and has served over 3,600 children and youth at risk for suicide in Colorado.
